The highly persistent "Warm West/Cool East" pattern will continue across continental U.S., as part of the broader "Warm Arctic/Cold Continents" pattern in Northern Hemisphere, for at least another 7-10 days. Extreme Western U.S. warmth & Eastern U.S. cold will continue. [Thread]

In this set-up, rare snow flurries could occur as far south as central Florida while record-low snowpack & balmy spring-like temperatures persist across U.S. West, including mountain regions. The wet-to-east temperature contrast (i.e., "dipole") will be genuinely dramatic.

In ~10 days or so, there are some prospects that hemispheric pattern may become more progressive--w/Western ridge shifting eastward. This may allow some (modest) precipitation to return to West, and finally an end to Arctic air in the east. Only medium confidence for now.

Probably rats. We stopped planting our beloved padron peppers because the rats would come through at night and decimate the leaves before the flowers even had a chance to start.
