Survivor

The snow-covered and wind-scoured landscape clearly defines a landslide that stopped just short of bulldozing the building.

February: Hofstaðakirkja in Skagafjörður, NW #Iceland.
First mentioned in Landnámabók, an Icelandic written work which describes the settlement of Iceland by the Norse in the 9th and 10th centuries CE, it was originally a turf church, and rebuilt in wood in 1832.

‘Train AI with your emotions’

I had a negative visceral reaction to this. The tests were run by the library and uni, both highly trusted. People were having fun in Virtual Reality goggles. I’m sure the research aim is good. But I’ve developed an instinctive dislike of AI because of its ubiquitous intrusion and the way it has enshittified basic things like autocorrect and search. So when I saw the sign, my immediate thought was: AI can fuck right off if it thinks I’m giving it my emotions.

Showing up to the library to ruin their training data with my autism and alexithymia :blobcatevil:

Jokes aside, this looks like yet another use of AI to automate biases - as if every person shows emotions the same way regardless of upbringing, culture, neurotype etc.

in reply to bismuth adventure 2

@bismuthcrow Yes, I said the same - culture, age and a lot of other factors make emotional responses vary anyway.

The existence of the ‘Silk Road’ is not based on a single shred of historical or material evidence. There was never any such ‘road’ or even a route in the organisational sense, there was no free movement of goods between China and the West until the Mongol Empire in the Middle Ages, silk was by no means the main commodity in trade with the East and there is not a single ancient historical record, neither Chinese nor classical, that even hints at the existence of such a road.

Palestinians returned to Zeitoun in southern Gaza City after Israeli forces withdrew following a destructive incursion.

Residents described escaping under heavy gunfire and finding widespread destruction.

Some believe the Israeli attacks are aimed at ethnic cleansing, questioning the motives behind targeting non-resistant areas. Local businesses, such as tailor shops, have been destroyed, forcing residents to adapt to new survival methods.

Do you know where the term "spam" comes from? 🧐 It all started with SPAM, the canned meat! 🍖 Thanks to a 1970 Monty Python sketch where diners were overwhelmed by chanting "SPAM," 🎶 the term became linked to unwanted emails. 📧 Now, the iconic SPAM can is even a meme for digital clutter! 🤖

Any app whose objective is to target people who spend money on the most useless of things is going to be going after their data and ultimately their money.

Cursory glance at its app permissions: Microphone access, Camera access, Precise Location, Access to your Contacts and a ton of Ad permissions.

"Smarte Kontrollen" ist ein anderes Wort für "Racial Profiling", oder?
