The question for “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” as season 5 begins this week is: How does the reality show top last season’s barn-burner of a finale?

Biden has said:

I have been briefed by my team regarding what federal law enforcement is investigating as a possible assassination attempt of former President Trump today.

A suspect is in custody, and I commend the work of the Secret Service and their law enforcement partners… t.co/rU9O1OoPMr

This has more Downfall energy than an actual Downfall video

Those things are not pets and should only be handles by professionals, kept safely in Lathe Zoos or left free in the wild

“It does not matter, to Vance, that these Haitian newcomers came here legally, under the Temporary Protected Status program. It does not matter that they filled a valuable need … What matters to Vance is who they are, where they come from and what they look like. They don’t belong to this soil, he might say, and therefore they don’t belong.” nytimes.com/2024/09/14/opinion…

If Vance “had a moral compass, a shred of decency or a belief in anything other than his own ambition and will-to-power, he would resign his Senate seat effective immediately, leave the presidential race and retire from public life, following a mournful apology for his ethical transgressions.”

Tonight's #Monsterdon film is #NightoftheComet (1984), starting in just under an hour (9 EDT). Viewers who want more later may enjoy a @skiffyandfanty podcast from 2017 about this -- the Torture Cinema subcast is usually about bad movies, but actually, they found a lot to love about this one.

Folks, it is an hour until #Monsterdon, the weekly monster movie watch party. Now's a good time to mute the tag if you want to avoid it.

If you'd like to join in, this week we're watching NIGHT OF THE COMET (1984), a horror movie about a dusty comet, apparently. It's on Tubi and Pluto, or you can download it from Archive.org over here: archive.org/details/night.-of.…

We start at 9pm Eastern time! Be there or be Mondale!

today’s bike adventure was taking my bike in to the shop and dang it did not want to stay in a gear :/

but i think that’s all chain age fuckery, the shop says the derailleur isn’t bent or anything, so while I’m still wondering about cable stretch I’m fine with blaming it all on the chain

also it needs new rear brake pads (one is cracked)

but they actively like my cargo hitch adapter and think it’s a good design which feels really nice and takes a load off my mind ^_^

and there is a specific quick release adapter for hitches that’s good with my bike! but it’s not cheap so maybe someday xD

anyway that’s why today’s #baking is just one set of #bagels and also running so late lol

I’m participating in Monsterdon in about 15 minutes, so feel free to mute me or the #Monsterdon hash tag, if you don't want to be flooded with strange and weird posts about the movie Night of the Comet.

Or you can join in!

A little treat I bought myself in Los Angeles. Not easy to find in Australia.

@davidtoddmccarty Yes! I always pick some up from Philippe's, an old-school diner near LA's Union Station.

This is the good kind of thought-provoking post. I don't pay to cut lines but I do other things that I like to believe don't happen at other's expense

e.g.: there's a place I visit 4x/yr. Rather than check my belongings every time I fly, I use a storage service in town that holds onto my stuff bw trips. It reduces anxiety (no worrying I forgot to pack [item]) and I have a place for my stuff when checkout is at 10 and my flight's at 6

It doesn't feel exploitative but I'm now asking myself: AITA
