BREAKING: The suspect arrested in the alleged assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump is Ryan Wesley Routh.

Here is a picture after arrest.

The thing that Jack Ruby got right is I think if you're going to assassinate someone, you should dress well. Doesn't have to be a suit, but I'm sick of high profile shooters (mass or otherwise) dressing like they have to run to CVS real quick. Show some god damn respect man.

This is my super obnoxious rambling #monsterdon thread! β˜„οΈ

Feel free to join the rest of the fediverse (about 1000 of us!) as we watch #NightOfTheComet

octodon.social/@Taweret/113144…

It gets posted public because #hashtags so if you don't want to see me partying in your feed, just mute this thread, and if monsdterdon isn't for you, set a filter for the tag πŸ”‡

in reply to πŸŒ’SavahπŸŒ•Rellcast🌘

okay so, how it works is that at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, everyone participating starts the chosen movie at the same time on whatever streaming service they're using. From there onward you post along, heckling, calling out plot inconsistentcies, funny set peices or awesome wardrobe, whatever you want. It's typically considered good manners to start a thread so you can be muted if somebody doesn't want to see a whole bunch post about it and hashtag with #monsterdon and whatever the movie title happens to be. If you're joining late, you can skip to the timestamp for whatever time it is since the movie started.

sooo how does one find our what movie is coming? Like at what time did you learn that you were watching night of the comet? And who chooses the movie?

At what point do the American authorities stop their β€œwe don’t arrest rich people” rule and do something about this menace? That tweet would have the #FBI at someone’s door so fast. If there is an attempt on Harris, you know who sent them. #uspol

Today was my last blackberry harvest of 2024, and this beauty here is the last berry I picked for the season. My freezer is full, with a bit of jam already in the pantry, so I'm well prepared with natural sweetness for all the cold dark months.

The community of Springfield, Ohio, is the unfortunate focus of a lot of hate. So far, bomb threats have forced the closure of government offices, schools, and now hospitals.

By the way, about Haiti:

"In 1804, Haitians successfully overthrew colonial rule and enslavement by France. The US did not recognize Haiti’s independence for nearly six decades.

Following the revolution, France used military force to demand financial restitution for loss of the colony, forcing Haiti to borrow money to cover its demands. The US and France provided those loans."

What can we do to support the Haitian community and Springfield OH?

Here are pointers, whether you live in / near Springfield, or are farther away:

And also, if this is about the US Senate, check out Sherrod Brown''s campaign,

"Brown's reelection is widely considered essential for Democrats to retain the Senate majority in 2024."

Springfield has had "33 bomb threats" now.
See post above on how to help the community.

Meanwhile, remember that all this is a cynical distraction tactic. Best way to strike back:
Refuse to be distracted.

Get out the vote.
Warn people of the GOP's plans.
Keep the focus on that #Project2025.

Speaking of Sherrod Brown,

His opponent, Bernie Moreno, was caught on camera telling women over 50 that abortion rights is 'not an issue for you'.

1. Have we no daughters?
2. By this "logic", men should also not vote based on the abortion issue?

You know what to do, Ohio.

Persistence FTW! More than four years!

β€œFormer US President Donald Trump has been found liable to pay damages to London singer and songwriter Eddy Grant for using his song Electric Avenue without permission.

β€œIt has taken Mr Grant, 76, more than four years to sue the Republican candidate in this year’s presidential election in the US courts, over his 2020 campaign video that used a 40-second clip of the song.”

Hi everyone. I’m currently out in British Columbia receiving treatment for cancer. We are struggling to stay afloat as I wait for government assistance to kick in. We are currently one month behind in rent, which is $1500. It would mean so much if you could help us pay it. I am living with one of my only living relatives. The rest, other than 3, have passed in the genocide. Please share. paypal.me/ashtonjonesy

A reminder that you can change your #Linux desktop on your #SteamDeck to whatever theme you want! Not just the background wallpaper, but the themes themselves are all interchangeable.

I love how #KDE lets you make what is yours even more 'you'. I chose a cozy lofi image for mine and I adore it :)

Now when #gaming and I need my desktop mode, I can feel super snug looking at it ❀

Maybe because we adults don't know what we're doing with technology either.
in reply to Andrew Pam

Maybe there's not enough profit generated when it's used properly. That would certainly incentivize it's improper use I think...
