#UnpopularOpinion I am torn (since many years) between what’s more destructive to progress: Monopolies created by copyright and patents in a supposedly free market or the (mostly ego-driven) infighting in the #OpenSource #FreeSoftware world. Both stifle innovation and progress, IMHO (In My Humble Opinion) and experience of 30+ years in fighting both. The latter seemed to me to be more easy to solve for many years, but I’m not so sure anymore.

A scrappy little astronomical community is using “Microlensing,” a form of gravitational lensing, to reveal Earth-sized worlds, hidden black holes, and a host of mysterious phenomena in space. Microlensing alignments are short-lived compared to larger lenses that endure far beyond human timescales. byteseu.com/423684/ #Astrobiology #Astrophysics #Cosmology #PlanetaryScience #Space #SpaceExploration #SpaceTechnology

Francesca Albanese has said that because Israel’s presence in the occupied Palestinian territories is unlawful, “it constitutes an aggression against the right of self-determination”.

“The Palestinians – like it or not – have the right to resist the oppression,” she said.

The caveat, she said, is that this resistance has to be done “within the realm and the limits of international law, therefore civilians cannot be targeted, killed or taken hostage”.

Having had so many laptops with absolutely terrible battery life, I keep forgetting that my ThinkPad has amazing battery life, so I'm always looking to plug it in and didn't even notice that it hadn't even been charging this whole time and I still have an estimated over 4 hours of charge on my decently bright screen setting while I've been sitting here futzing around between containers, the web browser, and various python testing.

#Fedora on a #Ryzen #ThinkPad is a magical experience.
