Boycott : les priorités réglementaires de l’occident...
Every year, hundreds of studies use an outdated, inhumane test on mice to try to find new antidepressants. Why is it still allowed?

#photography note (a few people asked): One of the reasons I include a flickr link to most of the photos I post here is so you can download the full res version easily (for printing, etc).
Another reason is that clarifies the CC license on most of my photos. For non-commercial straight up use, such as illustrating a personal web page, just attribute it or link to the flickr page; no need to ask or wait for permission (though it's always nice to let me know).
Other use? Check with me first.
Hab hier ein kleines ncurses Programm veröffentlicht, mit dem man #EtherCAT Gerätebeschreibungen durchstöbern kann:
“Texas was the first state in the nation to pass a ‘junk science law’, which allows people to appeal convictions based on outdated or debunked forensic science. But since the law passed in 2013, no Texans on death row have successfully used it to get a new trial.” texasobserver.org/death-row-sh…

If you go to someone's profile page on here, you may notice an option to "Add note" or similar. This lets you add private notes that only you can see. The person in the profile cannot see notes written about them.

Notes can be used for many different things, for example:
- Working together with people you can note their role in the project
- If you've blocked someone, you can note why
- Adding important info that they haven't put in their own bio
In theory yes, in practice they probably wouldn't.
If an admin has access to the database AND if they have the time AND knowledge to go through the raw data, they could see anything on their instance.
There's nothing in Mastodon's own software that does this though. Not all Masto admins have direct database access, for example if they use managed hosting.
The situation is the same on all social networks. If you need to share sensitive info, use an E2EE messenger instead.

Yep, you identified one of the fails of most fedi-softwares.
ALL of this is supported by the underlying #ActivityPub protocol:
- The `image` property can have multiple `url` with width and size.
If nothing comes with rel="" we assume the largest to be fullsize
- All licences can be embedde via rel="" but it would even be enough to `Question`for the well known licenses and put it in `attributedTo` as you described with flickr.
For Pros any client could read the IPTC or AdobeXMP caption and use it as default alt.
I stop here ;)

in reply to Matt Blaze • • •I am suggesting any dev to become ActivityPub conformant.
The problem is if the software receives an image with multiple urls, some can't deal with it, some show the first image.
This is important to many upcoming projects as described yesterday at berlinfedi.day/ or in the Key Talk at Public Spaces or in the book (pinned) and Talks at the official Confs redaktor.me/#home
For example, if Public Broadcasters worldwide federate highres publicmediaalliance.org/public… to millions, it would be nice that it shows in any client as _they_ give you the bandwith in this example.
