RIP Jazzybean. Thank you for the companionship you shared with my mum. You were the first horse I formed any sort of bond with, and I'll always cherish the time I got to spend with you. #Animals #HorsesOfMastodon

Give me a fucking break. He knows what he is doing. His legal team intervened finally. What a toxic putz.

Today ProPublica is reporting the first case of an abortion-related death -- 28-year-old Amber Thurman of Georgia -- officially ruled preventable. I'm proud to have edited this story and hope that we bring greater understanding of why and how strict abortion bans can cost lives. propublica.org/article/georgia…

And in rather less welcome back garden insect news, I'm pretty sure that this is an Asian hornet (Vespa velutina).

It's an invasive species that's thought to have arrived in France in boxes of pottery in 2004 & has been spreading through Europe since, killing & eating the native honeybee population along the way.

They're supposed to be reported & I've just done that.

If you live in Baden-Württemburg, here's the government webpage where you should report Asian hornet sightings: there have been several reports of individual hornets in our village this year & some nests as well.

The NYT (here, Peter Baker) must both-sides everything. Whatever Trump does, no matter how egregious, must be balanced with something Harris did, no matter how innocent.

Trump immediately exploited his assassination scare for fund-raising. Did Harris do anything like that?

The scam-ridden cryptocurrency industry is spending wildly to elect a Republican senate. Makes sense. So much of what Trump controls -- and he owns the Republicans outright -- has proved to be corrupt.

A bit of political jujitsu ought to be able to turn that all into a liability for Brown's opponent.

Who's going to trust a bunch of crypto bros? Name them as the predators and grifters they are.
