HummingSat: Major progress on Intelsat and Inmarsat design reviews
The HummingSat project has made major progress on the development of its product line, with Preliminary Design Review (PDR) meetings held for both the Intelsat 45 and Inmarsat 8 missions. These reviews are critical in ensuring that the satellite designs meet all necessary requirements before moving to the next phase of development.

Climate activist Greta Thunberg has been named โAnti-Semite of the Weekโ by a pro-Israel group following her arrest at a recent anti-Israel rally, sparking widespread condemnation. Critics have denounced the โanti-Semiteโ allegation as yet another egregious example of the weaponisation of anti-Semitism employed to smear and silence those who speak out against Israel.
Thunberg has recently become vocal in her support for Palestinian rights.

As headlines about the Trump familyโs โWorld Liberty Financialโ crypto project appear in outlets like the New York Times, a scam website spoofing the project remains on the front page of Google search results. Blockchain data show people actively purchasing the token.
This is the same scam URL and token address promoted by the hackers who compromised Twitter accounts belonging to Lara and Tiffany Trump two weeks ago.

Trump brings those divided loyalties to everything he does:
Loyalty to his own bank account or loyalty to the nation?
Trump brings that divided attention span to all his policies:
Attention to his various grifts or attention to the health of the American people?
Trump brings those divided morals to everything:
Defending himself or defending America?
A UN independent expert has expressed concern over continued European arms sales to Israel amid its attacks on Gaza, calling the situation "regrettable."
In an interview with Anadolu, George Katrougalos, special rapporteur on the promotion of a democratic and equitable international order, decried the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, stressing the high civilian death toll, particularly among children and women.

My @torontostar column: The TTC has a new (interim) leader with Greg Percy. Job one? Some serious relationship counselling with Metrolinx.
The provincial agency has been too secretive and too unaccountable. The TTC needs a better partner. thestar.com/opinion/contributoโฆ
UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese told a recent press conference in Geneva, โI think it is unavoidable for Israel to become a pariah in the face of its continuous, relentless, vilifying assault of the United Nations, on top of millions of Palestinians.โ
She also asked: โShould there be a consideration of its membership as part of this organisation, which Israel seems to have zero respect for?โ

Woodpeckers
While sitting outside this morning, I heard four different species of woodpeckers nearby. There was a red-bellied woodpecker, a pileated woodpecker, a downy woodpecker, and the bird of the day was a northern flicker. I only saw the red-bellied and the pileated. I was only able to get decent photos of the red-bellied woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus), seen here in a nearby oak tree with two out-of-focus pigeons in the foreground.
My gallery contains more that 700 images that I've chosen to share. Most are there for their visual appeal but there are a few novelty images. You can check out my gallery at:

Fifteen international aid organisations have come together to call for international pressure for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, an arms embargo on Israel and an end to the occupation of Palestinian territory.
Eighty-three per cent of required food aid does not make it into Gaza, up from 34 per cent in 2023, they added. โThis reduction means people in Gaza have gone from having an average of two meals a day to just one meal every other day.โ

Chinaโs radar with 5,900 miles range detects plasma bubbles over Giza pyramids
Chinese scientists detected plasma bubbles over the Egyptian pyramids and Midway Islands using the LARID radar in Hainan.Equatorial plasma bubbles are unusual weather events in low-latitude areas, caused by a sudden loss of charged particles in the ionosphere, a layer of Earthโs upper atmosphere.
These bubbles, which can grow hundreds of kilometers wide, disrupt GPS signals and interfere with satellite communications., the South China Morning Post reported.
Using the LARID, a low-latitude long-range ionospheric radar built last year, China has become the first country to detect plasma bubbles on radar.
On August 27, the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, shared the results of the largest plasma bubble detection recorded so far on its website.

Hezbollah said people were killed and wounded by "mysterious explosions" of pagers across "various Hezbollah units and institutions".
A Hezbollah official told Reuters the detonations were the "biggest security breach" since war with Israel broke out a year ago.
