Last year the NYPD spent $150 Million to catch people who weren't able to afford to pay the subway fare. They collectively owed just $104,000 in fares.

Instead of funding cops to shoot people, why not use the money to make public transport free for people who can't afford it?

Fetal rights are human rights. Abortion is oppression and is the very opposite of "life-saving" in the vast majority of cases. I'm deeply disappointed to see the EFF taking this tone. In a just and compassionate world, this would be treated as hate speech against fetal people.

President Biden and Vice President Harris took on Big Pharma – and won.

Now, because Medicare has the power to negotiate lower drug prices, millions of seniors and others on Medicare will see their costs go down on some of the most common drugs that treat heart disease, cancer, diabetes, blood clots, and more.

My Friday project: I've finished the 3D mesh for a classic 3-hold Great Lakes freighter ("Laker") with wheelhouse forward and crew quarters aft, loosely based on the Edmund Fitzgerald.

After I add colour, texture, and lighting, I'll release it into the Public Domain and start placing copies in #FlightGear from Montreal to Duluth to Gary. It will be free for anyone else to use as well, commercial or non-commercial.

I like it ... at a quick glance I might go a little less blue and more gray, but we are into that range where if you follow my whims you could just as easily move it further away vs. closer.

Scientific American supports Kamala Harris.

"#KamalaHarris has plans to improve health, boost the economy and mitigate #ClimateChange. Donald Trump has threats and a dangerous record."

Statement backed, of course, by science.

For John Britt, the constant dust was upsetting, and it triggered his asthma. “It’s hard to breathe,” he said.

Now he and many other low-income tenants have cleaner air, thanks to a pilot project by local groups.

"Regions where people most often reach 100-110 years old are the ones where there’s the most pressure to commit pension fraud, and they also have the worst [birth and death] records [and/or registries]."

Interesting to see if there is follow up beyond the work of a single researcher.
