I'm an old fart, but I want to install #linux for my kid laptop. Is #ubuntu still the friendliest OS? any other suggestion?
in reply to Alvaro

I think #LinuxMint / #LMDE and #Pop_OS are the recommendations these days - #ubuntu has steadily decreased in quality over the last few years. What will the kid be using their laptop for?

A year after the strike is the UAW still winning?

A year ago at this time, members of the United Auto Workers Union were feeling powerful and optimistic. The group's new President Shawn Fain had called a historic strike. For the first time, the Union walked out on ALL three big automakers.

It was a bold move that by most measures worked. It ultimately brought Ford, GM and Stellantis much closer to the union's demands for historic raises and new job protections.

The strike's success had people predicting a bigger and more powerful union.

A year on the union is still staring down some major challenges.

Wrote about Vance’s effort to try and shift guilt over the bomb threats to the media. washingtonpost.com/politics/20…
in reply to Philip Bump

"There was no evidence for the claims being made, just rumors and misrepresentations of photos or news stories. But as #Vance argued on #SocialMedia, the right shouldn’t β€œlet the crybabies in the media dissuade you” from amplifying the false story, one that mirrors past racist and anti-immigrant rhetoric. Instead, he said, they should β€œkeep the #cat memes flowing.”

...he sees #political value in amplifying claims"

.@marcleeccpa: The Greens made the first big splash in the #BCElxn2024 with a promise of free transit. It’s been widely criticized as too costly.

But B.C. needs bold solutions to address city congestion, shrink car dependence and improve affordability. 🚏
