This album is nothing less than stunning. There’s no shortage of re-imaginings of traditional folk songs, but with The Rhizome Project, composer Moira Smiley takes songs roots music fans are quite familiar with and transforms them into immersive soundscapes. These people may be long gone, but we can still have empathy for their very real needs, desires, and fears.

I'm asking what #opensource maintainers think of Tidelift: tidelift.com/ a service that offers to pay maintainers of popular open source packages maintaining security fixes.

From the fine print:

The release with the security fix "should not mention that they address a security vulnerability." support.tidelift.com/hc/en-us/…

in reply to Mark Stosberg

Regarding payments for #opensource, if Tidelift is not satisfied, you agree to work for free until they are satisfied or they can withhold fees due to be paid "for the applicable Service in an amount commensurate with the cost to the Subscriber to cover the breach and/or the cost to Tidelift to assist its Subscriber with covering the breach."

So sounds like if a #security issue costs a corp a million bugs, you won't get your $50/month for a while. support.tidelift.com/hc/en-us/…

A suspect’s arrest in an alleged assassination attempt against Donald Trump “required some old-fashioned police work, securing the perimeter and interviewing witnesses” — not indefinite retention of ALPR data, EFF’s Beryl Lipton told @nytimes. nytimes.com/2024/09/17/us/poli…

the city of Akron installed those spy cameras all over the city but they did nothing to help catch a mass murder suspect that shot up a birthday party.

Really, really getting over this pissant law enforcement surveillance bullshit.
I don't begrudge the spooks their eyes everywhere - it's their job. But the police, and especially corporate entities, can just go away.

So, I'll have the hardware to do GB and GBC game cartridges shortly. I'm pretty proficient with GB studio at this point, and I've found a collaborator I can hire who is better and faster than me, and works at a pretty reasonable rate.

So, I suspect I'll be making many Gameboy cartridges next year.

This leaves me with a decision to make! Do I do classic GB boxes? Or do I do VHS clamshell packaging?

We first did the VHS packages last year, becuase making boxes from scratch is tedious and I had a lot of clamshells on hand, and I really love the way they look.

Periodic reminder that most of the music I've released over the years is available through my Faircamp site on a pay-what-you-can basis. Generally electronic in nature, ranges from noise & industrial-influenced stuff, through psychedelic electronica, and into ambient soundscapes. Of course monetary support is appreciated, but please don't feel bad if you can't swing it. Boosts also appreciated.
