oh wow, the Titan Sub accident investigation has a bunch of new documents on the US Coast Guard site: news.uscg.mil/News-by-Region/H…
in reply to Tube❄Time

more unplanned shock testing. the thing was pointing straight up with everyone in the sub up against the back wall, then it kept slamming into the launch platform for an hour. that must have been miserable.

what the tail cone looks like now (they sent an ROV down). it was attached to the hull but not part of the pressure vessel.

Ridiculous. The same people who trample on women's rights and celebrate abortion bans won’t back IVF on the record, either. Republicans block a bill that helps people start families and then dare to present themselves as pro-family. It's a disgrace.

While Harris fights for true freedom—for women, for couples who want children—Trump and Republicans hide behind hollow promises.

Republicans block another vote on IVF protections as Harris makes it a 2024 issue:

Why is the public learning potentially life-altering information about a virus they’ve almost certainly contracted multiple times now from the economics section of Bloomberg?

Russia propaganda group behind fake Kamala Harris hit-and-run story, says Microsoft

theguardian.com/us-news/2024/s…

#KamalaHarris

Odd, isn't it, that Russia is not producing lies and misinformation about #Republicans. I wonder why?🤔

in reply to Fight the Right

A false claim circulating on social media that Kamala Harris was involved in an alleged hit-and-run in San Francisco in 2011 is the work of a covert Russian disinformation operation, according to new research by Microsoft.

Researchers found that the group created a video, paid an actor to appear as the alleged victim, and spread the claim through a fake website for a nonexistent San Francisco news outlet named KBSF-TV.

them: "I believe that the artificial intelligence boom […] is unsustainable, and will ultimately collapse. I also fear that said collapse could be ruinous to big tech, deeply damaging to the startup ecosystem, and will further sour public support for the tech industry. ...The really worrying part is that other than AI… these companies have nothing, [and] when it fails, the effects will invariably cascade down to other companies in the tech space."

I hear you, but there are use cases in which AI is already very helpful, and if we hit another "AI Winter," it will put a crimp on some very promising uses.

My experience differs.
I currently use a version of ChatGPT in MAXQDA, as part of qualitative research, and it adds considerable value.

This would be funny if it weren't half true. Funny thing: FOX News did to a generation what they said playing video games would do to their kids.

Amber Nicole Thurman died a “preventable” death in Georgia b/c abortion bans written by politicians and enacted in multiple states include vague language that leaves physicians scratching their heads over when they are legally protected in saving a woman’s life. digbysblog.net/2024/09/17/wome…

@spocko
The vagueness is not an accident.

Fear, paralysis, and confusion is the objective.

Flooding the zone with shit is the point.
