Some fantastic news in Mastodon development land that nobody besides me probably cares about is that we're finally dropping all the never-really-used E2EE code, in favour of the SWICG E2EE Taskforce's work & other projects.
This was a huge amount of technical debt that was just never really used.
And now I have another strange Wayland problem: my keyboard stopped working. It works on KDE using X11 and it works on the login screen, but once I login to the Wayland session, it stops working. It was working fine yesterday, not quite sure what would've changed since then. I don't even know where to start trying to solve this, anyone have any ideas? There doesn't seem to be much about this online, either.

Great article on how #ElonMusk is using his wealth by Lucas Ropek.
"Musk, one of the world’s richest people, now seems to be leveraging his grotesque wealth to bend the U.S. political system to his will."
So much of the coverage won't acknowledge the political reasons that Musk & the Saudis bought Twitter. Not to make money, not to have a, "free speech " Town Square. But as one part of a leverage campaign.
"A false claim circulating on social media that Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris left a 13-year-old girl paralyzed after an alleged hit-and-run in San Francisco in 2011 is the work of a covert Russian disinformation operation, according to new research by Microsoft."
Snap plans to charge $99/month ($1,188/year)to developers who want to build apps for their 5th generation spectacles.
So developers can choose between paying $99/year to Apple to develop for 1.3 billion iPhone users or $1,188 to Snap to target what is currently 0 users on Snap’s future smartglasses platform.
Tough choice.

More greetings from southern Chile (Pucon)
To quote my brother-in-law, "We have everything here! Big earthquakes. Big fires. Big volcanoes."
Signs remind people to run if the volcano erupts. I asked if people really need to be told that. Brother in law: "Yes. Chileans will stop to take pictures."
The beach has black lava sand.
