One weird thing about Mastodon is that when I report a toot, that goes to my instance's admins, which for a single user instance is me. I then have to go and deal with the report in the admin panel, even though I can't do anything.
I can choose to forward the report to the reported user's instance, but it feels like this is the wrong way round - unless the idea is that you trust your instance's admin more than the one you're reporting to?
I agree - annoying that, to report it to the originating server, I have to send it to myself too.
But yes, the idea is that to receiving instance mod can take action (and protect other users on the instance) as the first step, AIUI.
when I was an admin of a multiuser instance I wanted to delete that checkbox ftw. Reports should go through your local team to triage first.
Of course moderators should get the option to just send reports directly in a way that is immediately resolved locally or such
