in reply to Well, there is a Kate here.

One day, I met a former pupil who said, “Someone told me you were dead!” I confess that, at the time, I thought of pinching myself to make sure I was alive.

I remember when we used to get these in the mail, where the flyer actually had a penny glued to the paper that you could use to get your first order.

in reply to Irritationshintergrund🍏

Cheap smtp service for newsletter?

I am going to start a newsletter and I need an smtp service or mail sending service.

Either I would use a complete web solution like MailChimp or selfhost something like listmonk but then I need a 3rd party service to send emails e.g. Mailjet, Mailgun or an smtp service.

I have looked at Mailjet but is too expensive. I have also checked Zeptomail but they don't allow using the service for campaign/newsletter mails.

Any ideas?

in reply to Samuel

I have already started investigating different solutions in this blog entry (in Swedish)

samuels.bitar.se/nyhetsbrev/

There are some good alternatives for what I want to do, like Mailersend, Onesignal, Mailerlite, Beehiiv and Kit. However they are all based in the US. And I don't know if they are any good.

I would love to know if you have any suggestions or experience of using these kinds of services!

in reply to Samuel

I'm currently using Listmonk for my (very low volume) newsletter, and have tested it with SendPulse, Mailgun, Mailjet, Mailersend, Brevo, Sendgrid SMTPs. They all work, and you can use multiple SMTPs with Listmonk. I narrowed it down to Mailersend, SendPulse, and Brevo as the most generous.

That said, these services are restricting their free plans more & more. MailerSend used to have the most generous daily send limit (free), but I just got an email that it went from 3k/mo to 500/mo.

If you're sending like 50k/mo, the cheapest paid option (per my research) is AWS SES (not a fan of this though), and then Sendpulse.

What's your sending volume like?

in reply to candide ꘎ media

@candidexmedia my sending volume is very low. At the moment 200 emails and max one or two newsletter per months so 500 "sends" per month is enough.

I found maileroo.com/pricing which has a generous free tier of 3000 per month!

I would probably never exeed 10 000 per month with the projects I am running.

in reply to Samuel

@candidexmedia I found a nice payment model with ZeptoMail but that is only for transactional emails, not newsletter emails :(

in reply to Samuel

Maileroo looks interesting! It came up when I was looking for Mailersend alternatives, and it doesn't seem to be US-based.

I'm switching my Listmonk SMTP to SendPulse in the new year, since it offers 12k/mo free (rate limited to 400/day, 50/h), and their paid plan is still cheaper than everything I've found that isn't SES.

You could also look into pay-as-you-go credits for SMTP. SendPulse does a $15 one for 10k (expires after 12 months), and Brevo does a $75 for 10k (no expiry).

#Gukesh Dommaraju

#India's #Chess grandmaster and reigning world champion. Youngest world champion ever. Third youngest grandmaster ever

He just beat #MagnusCarlsen, who many argue is the greatest chess player ever, at Norway Chess 2025

(Magnus doesn't compete in the world championships anymore)

Gukesh is 19 years old

Yes, I heard from the commentators that Magnus had been putting the screws to Gukesh the whole game, giving no room for counterplay. He had a totally won game, and then he blundered. If I understand correctly it wasn't one of those subtle blunders either where you have to understand deep intricacies of the game. He really effed up. Gukesh still had to find the right moves though. His fans must be over the moon today.
in reply to Andy Lee

we're going to see great things from gukesh

i mean we've seen them already. much greater things

he's only 19!
