That reasoning certainly held true for this election.

It was indeed American. I was trying to prove a hypothesis that even if AA was running a decent operation, people would automatically think it was AA just because of how crappy the operation has been this year.

Friend was flying to IND today to see the Big Ten championship. Flight delayed due to mx, then delayed again since it was missing an FO. Now he's going home. Which airline do you think it was? 1️⃣ American2️⃣ Delta3️⃣ Southwest4️⃣ United📊 Show results

Worked on me. When my favorite aviation podcast does a three part series on how AAwful they are, what can I do?
in reply to soaproot

It was only after I voted that I thought of an alternate strategy, that I could have guessed who has most flights to IND (and ignore the delay part).

Netflix plans to acquire Warner Bros. for 82.7 billion dollars. The deal includes Warner Bros.’ IPs, its video game division, and HBO Max, one of its main streaming competitors, which raises potential regulatory challenges alternativeto.net/news/2025/12…

Genuine question.

Is it a positive thing if you dont care about some things?

We are told you must care but can not caring actually be positive?

The thoughts I've had are:-
Someone tells you they are gay, as long as they are happy I wouldn't care. It certainly would affect my relationship with them.

Someone tells me they are trans, again if they are happy I wouldn't care.

I guess its more ambivalent than not caring, it really has nothing to do with me.

Am I a psychopath or is that fair?

in reply to A

I might suggest that care is doing some heavy lifting there. I don’t care that my colleague is trans, I do care if someone abuses or discriminates against them. Same word…
in reply to Wen

I don’t know if I’d say care is doing some heavy lifting there as much as we’re dealing with two slightly different definitions (or usages?) of the word care. There is care in the sense of “is this something that has an impact on me such that I can reasonably have strong opinions/feelings about it” and care in the sense of “do I care about this person (or people generally or situation or…)”.

Your example makes that distinction very clearly.

Is anyone familiar with any works of fiction (or non-fiction, which would be kind of amazing) where archaeologists find relics that lead them to believe something about a society or civilization...but it turns out that those relics were staged to mislead future archeologists?

Open source is great in theory, but it often struggles with long-term momentum. Look at Omnivore - its team joined a VC-backed company, leaving users behind. Murmel’s approach? Stay focused, sustainable, and committed to evolving for you.
