God help us. Are they sharing our email addresses with the alt-right White House press corp? Got an unsolicited, not opted-in for, out-of-the-blue introductory newsletter from The Epoch Times that went to a dedicated, unpublished email account I use ONLY to conduct personal government business, like SSA, IRS, login.gov, etc.

The email said when I click an article link I will be consenting and an account would be created based on my email.

The article in the email weren't alt-right or conspiracy ones. They were bait. #USPol #Spam #Disinfo

Anyone else yet?

We are all going to feel silly and embarrassed someday for believing that being able to see the text of a program and rules-lawyering about who could copy and paste what text to where was the most important conversation we could have been having about software, freedom and human rights.
in reply to mhoye

if software licensing could have prevented "AI", that would have been a huge win, a win with substance. It's just we apparently should have been paying more attention to Audre Lorde
in reply to mcc

@mcc If it could, it already would have, because nearly all FOSS licenses forbid incorporation into LLMs. GPL requires detailed audit trail of changes and informing recipient of their rights. Even most permissive licenses require attribution & preservation of copyright notice.

The issue is that billionaires are above the law. Not that we're surrendering our ability to stop them through overly permissive licensing.

@mcc

The Constitution is very straightforward on birthright citizenship. There's no ambiguity in the language, no other plausible interpretation. The fact that this is a public discussion at all, and that the Supreme Court is taking it up, is on its own anti-constitutional bullshit. Read the text👇

For any one who enjoys learning how industry works; turns out the US Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board has a YouTube Channel full of incident reports. Here's one where a tank storage facility firebombed a surrounding neighborhood for 5 hours because that was "cheaper" than storing their tanks in the shade: youtube.com/watch?v=-_ZLQkn7X-…

Wife just got home from a long shift at the hospital. The Roku, which had been working all day, of course started acting funny when she wanted to watch her show.

Wife: The TV’s not working.

Me: *reboots the Roku, it starts working*

Wife: Don’t go thinking you’re hot shit now.

in reply to Greg Bell

Yesterday she said something along the lines of “I’m late because we had to save a guy’s life” and I was like “that’s a good reason to be late.”

they should make a leaf blower strong enough to blow away all the ugly stuff in your neighbor’s yard

I may have fucked up my hay calculation for while I'm away... they are eating more than I expected. Damn. I really hope I don't have to panic-sell a few goats... I will think about this again after I sleep and my brain has reset a bit.
in reply to BashStKid

@BashStKid Our neighbour only did a second cut on part of our hayfield once out of the six summers I've been here. We always make them wait to cut the hay until after July 15 when 90% of the ground-nesting birds have fledged, so we almost never get a second cut (which is fine).

I think my neighbour baled too quickly and a lot of the hay is not good quality in the middle of the bales so the goats are just not eating it. Annoying.

in reply to Prof. Sam Lawler

Makes sense. Not what you want to discover at the last minute, though.
Can they trailer some extra bales over while you’re away to make up for it?
