so after two weeks and two failed disks and accidentally resilvering with an smr drive and then restarting the expansion over twice... it looks like the raidz expansion might finally make it. something to note though... the estimated time started at 14 days on friday and it should be done today (2 days later). I think maybe the estimated time for zfs needs to get looked at?
At least historically, ZFS estimated times for full-pool operations (like scrubs and resilvers) have started out on the very long end during the initial part of the metadata scan (which is primarily IOPS-bound), then dropped once it got into the bulk portion (which is closer to throughput-bound). So depending on just how soon after starting you saw that 14 days estimate, the explanation just might be that simple. 🙂
