We are about to get a "post-American internet," because we are entering a post-American *era* and a post-American *world*. Some of that is Trump's doing, and some of that is down to his predecessors.

The Haiku Shack Magazine focuses on very short poetry and microfiction that seeks to make an emotional impact. Every issue is inspired by a specific theme and photograph. Writers are invited to send their own interpretations of one or both for potential inclusion.

A comparative view on #bonobo and #chimpanzee childhoods:
On their pathways to independence, chimp infants spend longer hitching a ride than bonobos who show more frequent independent travel. Chimp infants tend to stay closer to mum for longer, though both do. There is a lot similar but also difference in ecology, social risk factors and maternal strategy.

horrible realization:

if I were to speak now of a "crypto nudist" the reader would most likely not imagine a person who is nudist but on the down-low, and instead imagine a nudist who is really into cryptocurrency

When a passkey is created, it indicates whether it’s eligible for backup and is currently backed up. Websites and apps that make use of passkeys know whether a credential is resilient to device loss.

There’s a reason that passkeys in Apple Passwords and the other well-known passkey managers are backed up and synced by default. infosec.exchange/@adamshostack…

Half snark, but actually curious… what happens if Apple kills your account?

I haven’t started using passkeys because I simply don’t have the time to figure out all the ramifications and make sure they aren’t tied to a computer or an account.

(I believe you should understand a technology before adopting it)

They need to be highly portable… preferably via a text file (much like an ssh key is).

Yes, that's a major concern for me as well. Not saying passwords don't have problems, but in this day and age to aim to replace them with something which is tied to a single vendor (and possibly a single account with that vendor) seems bad. For a backup to be meaningful, it needs to be restorable even if the user loses access to wherever the thing backed up was originally stored. In an ultra-connected highly-synced world, this includes Apple/Google accounts.
