These two knit pieces are based on a drawing one of my sons made. He asked for a hat & scarf based on a creepy/scary GIR-inspired creature (GIR, the character from Invader Zim) that he drew in eary 2016. He lost both at college though and I haven't seen them since. 
Needless to say, he's been on my "Not Knit-worthy" list since then. Maybe one day I'll knit something new for him if he asks.

This will be the second Christmas since my father's death. I know grief is unpredictable, but I'm missing him more this year.
I suspect this was at least partly triggered by coming across paperwork I've kept which has his handwriting on it, and walking past the wonderful cheese shop where I used to get a selection to include in the hamper we put together every year for him to enjoy.

I have a very set evening routine just now, who am I kidding, I have a set routine all the damn time. Anyway, in the evening, I like to curl up with a cuppa and watch some silly stuff which doesn't involve me thinking. Since the kettle is boiling anyway, I fill a hot water bottle to put in bed where my feet go. I sleep so much better with that hot water bottle there.
So off I went to do that. Only to discover one of the cats had been sick all over my lovely bedspread. Cleaned that up, impromptu bed change, yay, urgh. While cleaning up, all I could think about was the lovely conversations I have had on here today. Those random conversations have absolutely brightened my day and have left me smiling.
