We should build a federated LinkedIn alternative. I think the purpose of LinkedIn is legitimate - there is a need for business-focused social networks. But LinkedIn is just a steaming hunk of garbage.

there have already been several serious attempts to do it, eg. Flockingbird, but for some reason none of them have ever succeeded in making a usable server.

it shouldn't be technically that much harder, so why is it that this particular niche stays unfilled?

I suspect (without evidence) that it’s because it’s hard to convince corporate types to put serious effort into any platform that’s not also controlled by another corporate type.

This is not a painting. It is made entirely of wood, its surface flat. A detail from the 15th-century "Studiolo Gubbio", one of the finest examples of intarsia, the masterful art of fitting together pieces of wood to make images: publicdomainreview.org/essay/e…

Groundbreaking New Study Finds Islamophobia May Be Partially Caused By Muslims Killing People All The Time

@The Babylon Bee Assuming you believe 9/11 was caused by Muslims, I don't, and there are extremists of just about any faith.

@The Babylon Bee One can selectively choose data to "prove" almost anything, if you had taken this same graph during the Spanish Inquisition then the Christian bar would be the high one.

Still using #FireFox?

Consider switching to a sane fork of FF such as #LibreWolf, #Mullvad, #Fennec, #IronFox, etc.

These forks use the Mozilla Firefox codebase, but do not include the BS moz has been jamming into it lately.

Playing with LibreWolf and it seems reasonable. It's just a tad bit confusing which one of these does what exactly and why one should use one or the other. So I just randomly picked LibreWolf for my experiment.

Too true!

This website is helpful for determining which browser has the most privacy-respecting features enabled:

Personally I've been a #LibreWolf user for years - and on #android, I tend to use #fennec and #IronFox interchangeably - I really don't notice much of any difference between them.

this is not an LE alternative. It is not free. They are another Buypass style bait-and-switch where they claim it's "free." But the restrictions and limits are uselessly low and it barely works.
