Got the desk cleaned up, I leaned back for a moment to rest and my cat was like "Oh, nap time? I'm down."
Looks like I'm putting off my projects for now..!

There was moss! Also lichen.

Moss makes me happy, I don't know why.
The trailhead has bathrooms, some picnic benches under ramadas, and some charcoal grills.
The trail started out in scrub land; desert grasses, pinon pines, shagbark junipers, and lots of cacti. Cholla and prickly pears, mostly. Along the trail there are various benches marked with memorial plaques to remind the hikers of loved ones, mostly wooden benches although I did see one carved from a solid granite boulder.
The benches are close to the trailhead and peter out as you move uphill - I'd think there's perhaps a greater need for them further away, as people get tired.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the scrub and brush soon gave way to pinon-juniper forest, bigger rocks, and some large boulders the size of a small boulder. There was more snow and better views as you climb the trail. The trail was a bit muddy at times so watch your step - and your balance!
It was a good hike and my watch said I did almost 8,000 steps on the trail.
I feel better, now.
