More pics from today's giant march against Israel's ethnic cleansing and genocide in occupied Palestine. There were apparently several arrests made by police, most likely due to people displaying forbidden words or phrases - although we were told there was a physical confrontation that resulted in one arrest.

Just because someone leaves their home doesn't mean they no longer love it. Nor does it mean they won't do anything to help it.

Potato chips flavors at my neighborhood corner store

- Nigerian chips with turmeric and nutmeg flavors
- Omani chips (my fave Chips Oman)
- Chinese potato chips (chilli crisp flavor)
- Taiwanese potato chips(beer flavor!)
- Thai potato chips (salted egg flavor)
- German potato chips (confusingly, KFC branded and KFC flavored)
- other chips of unknown origin but probably Chinese ish: black pepper crab instant noodle flavor

I love ‘weird’ potato chip flavors. Passionately. I also don’t think vinegar should be in most chips / crisps except under very specific circumstances

Taiwan has a seaweed flavour that I would increase my heart attack probability if it were available here.

"On Monday night, nearly 80,000 people hopped on a video call to learn how to “observe ICE”, a non-violent and constitutionally protected practice of documenting federal immigration agents’ activities in public. Some wrote in the chat where they were from: Arkansas, Texas, Michigan, Florida and many other corners of the country. Others typed why this was important to them: calling for “ICE out” of their communities and demanding the abolition of the agency itself. “The fact we’re all here gives me hope we’ll come out the other side,” wrote one participant. Within 24 hours, another 200,000 people had watched the recording on YouTube."

“He’s unifier not just here in United States, but around the world. He stopped many wars. Here in United States, it’s a lot of opposition, and that’s the problem, right? So the people not agreeing with everything that he does, and you know, they just need to come on the same page and see that he wants to make America only safer and better.”

Racism. . . . fuelled by bitter assertions that no immigrant ever has the least respect for the environment in his adopted country because he never really believes it's his.

I also learned, on coming to this side of the world, if there were things and flavors I didn’t really like; (like.. vinegar.. potatoes.. yes sorry but I really didn’t like potatoes)

I should try how Mexicans and Peruvians make those foods and I will probably like them a lot and change my mind about everything I dislike.

I want to write a cookbook about all the foods I disliked and how I changed my mind

Wow yeah that's a thing I've had a few times... Cabbage then I discovered kimchi. Beetroot then I discovered borscht. Sweetcorn then I discovered humitas...
I hope I make further discoveries about the remaining foods I don't like...

You must love the northern Chinese way of making potatoes, with tons of vinegar and sugar…

The vinegar was novel for me but I like it. Sugared up potatoes took some getting used to. I’m Irish-American, so definitely in the potato-eater lineage.* And I like them just about any which way; my Chinese in-laws tease me about it. I also like thinking of tu dou as “dirt beans.”

If several generations of McMullins, Ryans, Roneys, Goodwins and I don’t know who else hadn’t decided to go “the next county over” way back when, I could be an Irish artist with a Basic Income.

Damned potatoes.
