1. China is led by engineers (or those with a science background), the USA is led by lawyers & bankers (or now a property speculator);
2. China's economy remains focussed on manufacturing while the US economy is structured by a dominance of finance (and health services, and to some extent defence).
How these differences play on in global political terms is becoming increasingly important to the rest of the world.
