Blonde sandstone tenements at the corner of Trongate and Chisholm Street in central Glasgow. Created by A.B. MacDonald in the 1890s, they were probably based on an 1877 design by John Carrick for the City Improvement Trust. The truncated conical corner roof gives it a rather nice French flavour.

Check out this big gum emperor moth that visited my moth light at home last night, in Ōtautahi-Christchurch, NZ.

I first thought there was a bird flapping in the bushes, before it appeared. This one was pinker than most I've seen, and it happily clambered about on its big fluffy feet.

They're more like Pokémon than real moths.

And, at the opposite extreme of moths from a huge and fluffy gum emperor moth, there was this minute brown Batrachedra moth.

Whereas the gum emperor moth is generally cheery, the Batrachedra looks grumpy. 😄

I saw one at my home moth light in January last year, and it's back again this year.

#WritersCoffeeClub 1 Feb: How satisfied are you with your current writerly ‘voice’?

It is what it is. I'm currently writing #histfic and I think it suits that genre. In my #writing group I've tried alternative voices for different genres, and people have liked them. I'll stick with the one I have for now.

Are we reading discomfort, tone and friction as coercion rather than as boundary-setting in early affinity formation?
Tone here functions as braking and steering, not governance. It is a process tool, not a moral verdict.

Are we engaging with lived historical practice, or abstract risk models?
#OMN emerges from 30+ years of practical projects (Indymedia, squatting cultures, media activism, commons infrastructure). Critique that does not engage with this history risks becoming theoretical at best, academic at worst.
