I saw a video of the same thing but with DOOM.
This is the end of it all.
These only work because they have material to train on - which was created by Humans.
The models can’t _create_ - all they can do is regurgitate and hallucinate.
Eventually they will be training on their own content and then everything becomes inbred and it all dies.
It looks cool at the moment only because it has human created content to pull from.
it will be able to replace... Games that already exist. I think if we stretch it a bit we would be able to say that these models could make a copy of Mario with a different character. Maybe.
I'm sure it'll be able to figure out codified physics, and how to place platforms so you can actually jump to them with those physics, or set up mechanics so that you can make little platforming puzzles like they do in Nintendo games.
In other words: what a nothing burger
Next step is an inverted tone curve adjustment. The outside artifacts can be fixed later but look at how much detail is shown from small adjustments!
I'm having to do these slowly because I'm working on a timelapse from ~700GB of data.
