She has been staring at me like this for over an hour.

Was out most of the morning and she has been staring at me since I woke up from a nap. I have no idea what she wants.

I feel pressured.

I recommend #Nextcloud Deck for ToDo app. Great to organize stuff while moving houses, all family members have the app across apple and android devices, and browsers.

So, big news: my new book MORE EVERYTHING FOREVER is coming out in April! 🎉🎉📘📘hachettebookgroup.com/titles/a… It's about the absurd and horrifying plans that the leaders of the tech industry have for your future and the future of the universe.

in reply to Adam Becker

The moguls of Silicon Valley insist that AI will become superhumanly intelligent, ending death and creating an eternally prosperous galactic empire. The only roadblock, they claim, is that such AI might turn on us and kill off humanity before the new golden age arrives.

But these dreams of utopia and apocalypse are hollow -- they're based on the pseudoscientific pronouncements of fringe ideological movements with long histories of racism, sexism, and fascism. Those movements have been supercharged by torrents of cash from tech billionaires interested in pushing these ideas about the future to enable their own continued quest for power and wealth.

MORE EVERYTHING FOREVER punctures the tech industry's stories about the future. They want you to believe their visions of tomorrow are inevitable. In reality, their plans are next to impossible — and their quest to realize them will bring death and ruin. In order to stop them, the rest of us need to understand what the tech billionaires want. That's why I wrote this book.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has added CATNIP OIL and OIL OF CITRONELLA to its list of *registered*, skin-applied chemicals that repel mosquitoes, joining DEET, IR 3535, PMD (oil of lemon eucalyptus), picaridin, and 2-undecanone. Officially, I don't think catnip is registered for use against ticks but there's plenty of web chatter that it works. #mosquitoes #repellent #ticks #epa #nature epa.gov/insect-repellents/skin…
in reply to Colin Purrington

Just a note of caution to hikers using catnip oil to deter mosquitoes and ticks: the primary active ingredient, nepetalactone, attracts cats, including mountain lions. So opt for a different repellent or hike with somebody who is a slow runner. #cats #catnip #nepata #MountainLion coloradohistoricnewspapers.org…

Either Livingston is swimming very close to the front of his ready room fish tank in #StarTrekTNG's "The Arsenal of Freedom" and thus appears so big or this is a different fish standing in for Livingston (who was much smaller in earlier episodes) in this episode.
in reply to Jörg Hillebrand

He must have contracted Andorian Salmon Flu. It's not a severe disease, the primary symptom being abnormal body size, and it only lasts about an episode.

Well worth reading today is New York Times publisher A. G. Sulberger's long opinion piece in the Washington Post ostensibly in defense of press freedom from Trump.

washingtonpost.com/opinions/20…

Would also recommend reading the comments. The majority of which call out Sulzberger for normalization of Trump and both-siderism practiced by his newspaper.

We have seen before how Sulzberger uses the rhetorical shield of "press freedom" to deflect criticism, but this is taking it to a new level.

in reply to Elias Mårtenson

Not necessarily.

If that introduced many new dependencies, your code could be much worse IMHO.

in reply to Karl Voit

@publicvoit one new dependency, which is a library that implements precisely what I had done myself but in a much better way.
