โOut of the blue, someone wanted to pay me millions to tell the American people that Ukraine was our enemy, and Russia was our friend. I had NO WAY of knowing, that this guy Mr. Kalashnikov was a foreign agent, and all that money came from Russia. I am clearly the victim of an extremely advanced, covert operation here.โ
Seriously? That is what they are going with?
Yeah sorta. First you gotta know what the problem is, good luck getting the average user to figure out the UI looks off because of the padding. Then you gotta know where and how you need to change it to make it better.
Customizing is cool for power users that like to fiddle with their settings, however it can't replace good defaults; not that I have anything against the defaults in this case...
Yes, I can't begin to express how much I love 5 cm of whitespace between every setting on Windows Settings pages.
Thanks, Microsoft.

You say this in the comments of a blogpost where they are precisely doing that

I propose a new technique for improving code quality in single-maintainer open source projects: Timeshifted self-reviews.
1. Write some code
2. Create a PR on GitHub
3. Leave it rotting there for 3 months
4. Take a look at it again, after having completely forgotten what the code does and how it works
Perfect chance to review your own code with fresh eyes! (I hope you'll be pleased and not disgusted ๐)

This bird landed atop an oak tree at the edge of the forest overlooking my backyard while Charlie and I were sitting outside this morning. It was way off and initially, without looking at the photos I thought "thrasher." However, after looking at the photos I thought it was a pine warbler (Setophaga pinus). I noticed though that it lacks the distinctive eye ring. So, I settled on juvenile Baltimore Oriole (Icterus galbula). What do you think?
My gallery contains more that 700 images that I've chosen to share. Most are there for their visual appeal but there are a few novelty images. You can check out my gallery at:

I use Merlin as well, I find that itโs not always accurate. But, it the case Merlin identified the bird as an oriole.
Happy โStar Trek Dayโ to all who celebrate.
In honor of the September 8th anniversary of the original Star Trek series premiere, Paramount Plus has assembled a free-to-watch YouTube playlist of the first episodes (including two-parters like โEncounter at Farpointโ) of most of the franchiseโs series, along with a handful of shorts. Theyโre free from September 7th โ 13th.
That doesnโt include Star Trek: Prodigy, which is over on Netflix, and not free.

๐ฌ According to Life, the Fediverse, and Everything, we've had 42 responses to our #Moderator Survey so far!
Last year we had over 130, we want as many people as possible to tell us how we can help support #moderation in the Fediverse!
If you self-host, or run a large server, or anything in between, this is your chance to help us prioritise our resources:

The first eight pieces are started for the corners, the grey yarn is an organic cotton, and keeps wanting to split ๐
It's going to require patience to work with!!

The current WIP is coming along nicely, the flower motifs are looking a bit complicated but I will persevere ๐

in reply to Randahl Fink • • •Do stay vigilant though.
We in eastern Europe know a very common Russian propaganda tactic to be the โsloppy propaganda + smart propagandaโ
Itโs common for them to put in something that is overt and easy to find, so you think you are clever and found them out.
This could be just another honeypot to make you relax and forget to look elsewhere. Wouldnโt be the first time.
