Another X-class flare from a region near the center of the solar disk — X1.8 (R3 - Strong radio blackout) from AR3848.
This flare produced an incredibly fast Type II radio burst (maybe *literally* incredible: SWPC's initial speed estimate was 5,176 km/sec!) as well as a Type IV emission — strongly suggesting a CME was produced. Also seeing a slight elevation in solar proton flux in GOES-18 instrument data. #solarflare #spaceweather #spacewx
SWPC has issued a G4 (Severe) geomagnetic storm watch for the October 10-11 UTC days for anticipated arrival of an Earth-directed full-halo CME produced by yesterday's X1.8 flare from AR3848.
