Is there a standalone program that takes a /dev/input/eventX device, interprets the keycodes and just outputs to STDOUT what typing on that device yields?
I am a bit baffled that I couldn't find anything. Currently I hacked together something rudimentary with python-evdev but surely this is a common problem in embedded Linix applications?
I just want to give a certain systemd service a specific input device / keyboard / barcode scanner as STDIN. Can't be that hard!?
