Well, the house we had in Brentwood was torn down and replaced with something new and ginormous, so it’s not like THAT house is in danger. But you get the drift. NOTHING I’d ever think would need to be evacuated for a wildfire.

in reply to Mats Holberg • • •Should clarify that a northern section of Brentwood did burn in the 1961 Bel-Air fire. But what I mean is, like, Brentwood Park. Where OJ’s house used to be. Possibly the only teardown of which I heartily approved.
My parents were actually at the hospital with him and Marguerite the night their daughter drowned in the pool there. Marguerite is LOVELY by the way. I never liked him but I always loved her.
Okay, I’ve been drinking gin on an empty stomach and am just rambling tangentially now.

It had a brick courtyard between the house and the garage that HAS survived even after the new house was built. And that, my friends, is where I taught myself to ride a bicycle one day, on a bike that was too large for me, because my Dad wasn’t exactly the kind of father who taught his kids to ride a bike. And I felt like it was time.

It was in her pool room in Brentwood that I decided definitely that I didn’t like OJ when I was seven or eight. We’d dropped in on her at the same crime he’d dropped in on her and I’d waited very politely while he shot a lot at the pool table. I asked if I could have a turn when he was racking, finally, and he looked at me and said, ‘No.’
