Also, let's consider the Facebook "we're getting rid of our DEI program".
Here's the thing: Every "DEI" program in every US company is actually just a lie: "DEI" programs are phrased the way they are because if they were honest they would open themselves to lawsuits, because those "DEI" programs would be more correctly labeled "Stop preferring white male candidates over everyone else, just because they're white men".
"DEI" programs say "you can't prefer candidates just because they went to the same school as you", "you can't prefer candidates because they go to church with you", "you can't prefer candidates because they're the same religion as you".
Historically all tech companies prioritized candidates based on:
* Did you go to the same (white prioritizing) school? * Did you go to a "prestigious" (read: white prioritizing) school * Did you work for a company with the same rules?
Then they got to claim they don't discriminate against candidates based on race or anything, because the "wrong" race, gender, etc doesn't get past your "not racist/sexist" filter.
"DEI" programs were never "hire less qualified people because they mean category X", they were required because without direct and objective measurements preventing it, the entire tech company hiring process discriminates against everyone.
The mythical "less qualified minority or woman that stole a white man's job" BS is purely "white men are so used to being given priority over anyone else that even slightly leveling the playing field felt like discrimination".
Seriously people, a person in a minority group, or women (who are not a minority, and just inexplicably and for totally non-sexism-related-reasons massively underrepresented in tech), who get a job because of "DEI", are still not on a level playing field.
"DEI" programs did not give them a leg up over white dudes, "DEI" programs simply reduced the degree to which they have to be better than the non-minority candidates.
You can see the bigotry at play, whenever a woman or minority employee makes a mistake, or turns out to not be competent, the bigots _always_ blame DEI. Always.
Yet when it's a white dude that is just as incompetent there's never any "why did we choose this white dude over the other candidates?"

It was really disappointing to see Kling complaining about the "DEI" policy at apple, without any reflection as to why that policy might be necessary.
I recall asking folk at why we did not send recruiters to any of the local public universities or community colleges, and the response was "well we've found candidates historically to be better from <standard list of prestigious schools>", cool so we just completely discard all candidates from larger schools with more diverse backgrounds.

Curious question, I’ve seen you post a fair bit about #Valheim. I’m guessing from the context that this is a game, what is it? And what is it about? I dare say I probably won’t be able to play it, as many games that attract my attention are not really accessible to those of us using screen readers LOL.
It’s an open world adventure game where you play as a fallen Viking who finds themselves not in Valhalla as they expected, but in #Valheim, the tenth world, tasked with finding and defeating the Forsaken, beings banished to Valheim by Odin for wanting their independence.
A cursory search would suggest that the game doesn’t have the greatest accessibility for the visually impaired, though the game is in Early Access, so that may improve.
Wireless, haven't used an ethernet cable in years.
There isn't really any justification for wired anymore, once there was, but those issues are far gone, and I have seen no problem with it, even in time critical games that I used to play.
