I almost feel like those of us advocating for clear-eyed preparation need to come up with a word that isn't "prepper." The existing prepper movement is rife with people who are focused on surviving the apocalypse, not interruptive emergencies. Which is what people SHOULD be preparing for.

Found myself actually wondering if when I sign the agreement that the work is exclusively my own creation I'll have to disclose that I'm actually ripping off Pindar's 3rd Pythian in the fake quote from a fake dialect of Late Proto-Indo-European.

Feels like a cousin to Tolkien's impulse to have a world for people to speak Elvish in. I just felt the need to imagine a world for a proto-language, in a way more than would actually be tractable in scholarship.

By local tradition, on this rock, Jesus’ body was laid and prepared for burial. Some pilgrims will sprinkle the stone with oil and wash it off with a cloth.
