But I suspect it’s specifically directed to Trump and white supremacists, to remind them of the hypocrisy of persecuting undocumented immigrants when they themselves came from immigrant families.

I appreciate why people are lauding the Bishop of DC for her appeal to Trump and Vance. And I understand why, given her tradition, she used the language of mercy. But, what elected leaders in a pluralistic constitutional democracy should act from is justice and the public good, both of which counsel against everything these Republicans Fascists are doing. Mercy is what we might expect from despots, and despite their self-understanding Trump et al were not elected to that role.

I really wish Bluesky didn't have it's own protocol. I really want to support it as a part of the shift away from centralized social media, but there isn't a way for it's success not to come at the expense of Activitypub.

@the1dlcguy I've soured on Bluesky since learning that running an "instance" costs upwards of $30M. The only way to get that kind of money is from billionaires, so their protocol is not a solution for getting away from control by billionaires.

Ah ok. Dann irrelevant. Nicht offene Software ist ein No-No, und den Zugang zu Asssistenz-Software an einen Vertrag mit Google zu knüpfen ganz besonders.

Das Decken der Kosten ist kein Argument. Das geht genau so gut mit offener Software. Da würde garantiert sogar mehr gespendet, als man den Bedürftigen durch Kommerzialisierung aus der Tasche ziehen kann.
