Never pass up the chance to support your local theatre. Wifey and I are at a small venue performing the Broadway adaptation of “Anything Goes”, and it’s loads of fun.

Won't be checking that Meta database to see how many of my works have used to train AI. I have been getting pirated for, like, EVER. Nothing new, nothing I have ever condoned. All I can do is keep being me, evolving, growing and playing. AI cannot catch me. It'll always be ten steps behind.

That said:

Someone steals your work and uses it to teach AI and your response is to demand payment? From billionaires? Really?

I demand that those mutherfuckers be thrown in jail.

I recently got to see an advance of the documentary "Fault Lines" about attempts to build housing in San Francisco, and boy howdy is this a real thing. A group of NIMBYs yanks the gov't around for *years* & never stops whining that it's not being listened to.

"Can you see the hand wave, the trick of the mind people slip into so naturally they don’t even realise they’re doing it? They’re saying they’re not being listened to, when what they actually mean is they’re not given a veto." On the government's attempts to defang NIMBYism

Labour’s halfway-there plannin...

in reply to David Roberts

The thing is, most of these urban NIMBYs are older, affluent white people who have been raised their entire lives to believe that if they don't get what they want, something must be broken. They are genuinely outraged & baffled at not getting their way. It's so ... punchable.

Watched first episode of Severance tonight (finally). As per last week’s post about discovering Seinfeld long after the rest of the world, I find both perfect escapism from Donny’s Hellscape 2.0. Can only consume so much news about tariffs, trade wars, plunging markets, deportations etc. One is comedy from the 90s, the other a dystopian corporate future. Any other shows that can fit this category?
in reply to JonChevreau

Liked The Madness on Netflix, but it does not exactly qualify as escapism from racist corporate oppression.

Don't risk entering the US for WorldPride.

If you live in the US, though:

"A boycott of WorldPride sends the wrong message... We need to show up together, show resilience and resistance to ensure we remain visible and heard..."

Question for you Blueskyers?

Just got directed to a Bluesky post with a video. Don't have an account so not logged in, but tried to download the video, and it didn't seem possible. Is that the way it works for everyone? Can you not download videos posted on Bluesky?

in reply to Mastodon Migration

Like most social media there isn't a download feature for video. You can use yt-dlp it will grab it for you.

@toyotabedzrock

Understood. Just that Mastodon lets you download standard files. Guess it is just a difference in philosophy.

Good morning 🌅 from this spot here... 😉

The sun is coming up. We're walking a short round now and in about an hour, I wanna take Arwen to the Herperduin, so she can have another splashing adventure... 😊

But first, I'll start reading the new book... 😇
