Blue-Gray Delight
A blue-gray gnatcatcher (Polioptila caerulea) made an appearance in my backyard this morning, darting energetically among the branches. There might have been two, but it's hard to tell since they move around so quickly. These tiny birds are smaller than a chickadee yet slightly larger than a hummingbird, making their swift movements even more captivating.

Understand your point, but disagree. People have been led to believe that #Bluesky is a safe because the company has marketed that it is "decentralized." Most folks don't really understand this stuff, but are convinced because it is repeated in the media and their associates are doing the same thing.
This is a teachable moment. Hopefully people will see the vulnerability and the inherently more defensible nature of the Fediverse and make decisions accordingly.
Not sure it needs to be that complicated. Suspect that there are plenty of Mastodon insrance admins who would not block users in response to requests by the Turkish government.

"Since its inception, the CVE Program has operated as a U.S. government-funded initiative, with oversight and management provided under contract," the press release reads. "While this structure has supported the program's growth, it has also raised longstanding concerns among members of the CVE Board about the sustainability and neutrality of a globally relied-upon resource being tied to a single government sponsor."
The organization's website, thecvefoundation.org, is less than a day old and currently hosts no content. The announcement said the foundation would release more information about its structure and transition planning in the coming days.

in reply to Swede’s Photographs • • •We saw a couple of these little birbs on our walk yesterday morning. And a bunch of kinglets, warblers, robins, and other small birds. Migration season is happening!
Despite a large part of the park being closed for repaving of paths and other maintenance, our two hour walk ran 2:45. Lots to see.
Our alternate Wednesday walks will be weekly in May to capture peak migratory action.
