in reply to Yellow Turtle 🍉

The image features a cat resting in a cozy indoor setting. The cat has a tabby coat with a mix of brown, black, and white fur, and a distinctive white patch on its face. It is lying on a soft, light-colored surface, possibly a cushion or mat, with its front paws tucked under its body. The cat's eyes are open and alert, with a greenish hue, and it appears to be looking directly at the camera.

The background includes a bamboo-like screen, providing a natural and textured backdrop. To the left, there is a vertical wooden structure, possibly part of a cat tree or scratching post, with a light-colored bark texture. The cat is partially hidden behind this structure, adding a sense of depth to the image. The overall setting suggests a comfortable and secure environment for the cat.

Tech bro 'Green' Transition is a scam

To assume 'green capitalism' is more progressive than its fossil opposition would be a critical mistake.

The green ‘transition’ economy is pitted against this emerging fossil fascism, with politicians and corporations confidently declaring green technologies and artificial intelligence will provide jobs and spur growth.

The Samoud convoy, which left Algeria yesterday, has arrived in Libya on it's way to the Rafah crossing to break the siege on Gaza
in reply to חנן כהן • Hanan Cohen

@hananc Because "samoud" is originally an Arabic word, it can be transliterated in different ways.
The same as the name Mohammed/Muhammed/Mohamad can be written with different spellings in the Latin alphabet.
Arabic script doesn't use short vowels for example, and some letters which don't exist in the Latin alphabet can be transliterated in different ways "Q" and "K" is a common one in English.

Could the degrowth movement save our planet?

It challenges the conventional belief that endless economic growth is the only thing to strive for, and advocates a planned reduction of energy and resource use to bring the economy back into balance with the living world. The concept has been gaining traction recently, but could such a strategy really work?

Not sure I would trust the Financial Times to tell me one way or the other on this one, to be honest.

in reply to Early Modern Diplomacy

Focusing on diplomatic practices is a common way to try to define #diplomacy – not only #earlymodern, but also modern diplomacy. This allows to understand #emdiplomacy not from preconceived ideas of what diplomacy ought to look like and thus maybe overlooking important aspects, but what diplomatic actors actually did.
So, we argue in our introduction: “understanding earlymodern diplomacy as a political and social practice helps to open up the varieties of what diplomatic actions could comprise – from negotiations to reporting and information-gathering to gift-giving, dancing and dining.”

In the next weeks you can look forward to the articles dealing with the diversity of #earlymodern diplomatic practices. (2/2)

@tante
