Stephen Flynn has said an independent Scotland led by the SNP would break off diplomatic relations with Israel and close embassies in the country.

Speaking to The News Agents podcast, the SNP Westminster leader also said he does not believe it would "wise" for SNP MPs to visit Israel, but he would be "amazed" if they decided to as they are "not daft".

From a friend regarding portable off-grid communications.

FRS is the kind specifically designed for families and no license required.

These 2 are cheap portable HAMs that can be "detuned" to work like a FRS but have way more capability.

"Quansheng UV-5R or UV-K8 are generally pretty cheap on AliExpress, I'd recommend the latter myself - not so much intended for family comms, but will absolutely do the job"

They're ~$30 each. Even with tariffs.

3-5 Watts od power, while respectable, I would keep this radio away from my head as much as possible. I used to work for a major digital radios company and we'd have internal regulations to config our devices placing a cap on max TX power - values of a fraction of a watt. I'd use an external antenna with this one if the manufacturer supplies such an accessory.
in reply to The Polish Dispatch

@ThePolishDispatch
Ham radio operators refer to the stubby little "rubber ducky" antennas that come with handheld radios as "air-cooled dummy loads" because of their notoriously poor efficiency. Savvy operators replace them with longer, more efficient whip antennas, which waste less of the output signal hearing up the radio itself.

While that does mean that more RF power is radiated, they are paradoxically also safer: most of the output power from any whip-type antenna is emitted near the outer end. A 17" whip puts that end well above your head rather than right next to your skull as a rubber ducky does.

Keeping the RF away from your thinky bits is always a good idea.

P.S. If you don't have an amateur license, they are easy to get. And please don't use the amateur bands on these radios without one. You'll annoy the licensed users, who will report you to the licensing authorities; they in turn will locate you via direction-finding (aided by the annoyed license holders) and levy big fines, plus taking away your toys. Politeness pays.

Metal, gunpowder, charred meat, burnt electrical wiring. That’s how various astronauts have described the smell of outer space.

Scientists aren’t sure what generates those particular scents — perhaps it’s atomic oxygen forming ozone in a space station, maybe even atoms from dying stars.

The image depicts a vibrant garden scene under a clear blue sky. In the foreground, a dense patch of bright yellow flowers, likely chrysanthemums, creates a striking contrast with the surrounding greenery. Behind the flowers, a variety of cacti and succulents are visible, including tall columnar cacti and a large, spiky yucca plant. The midground features a mix of other plants, including palm trees and coniferous trees, adding depth to the scene. The overall composition showcases a diverse array of plant life, highlighting the beauty and variety of a desert-themed garden.

"Wait you fucked up the first part again, change it back to when you first fixed it."

"Ok now fix this last part."

"Damnit why do you keep changing the first part I already told you it was fine!"

My experience is that you want to keep changes as focused as possible. The smaller the context it has to work on the better the results tend to be, and the easier it is to check that it did what you actually wanted it to.

followed by the mobilization of hundreds of active-duty Marines to augment the Guard members already in Los Angeles.

In a city that has increasingly found itself in the crosshairs of the federal government, turmoil can feel personal.
