#Destroyer

Assuming this is cold water and not a hot spring, the metaphor in my mind is thus:

It's incredibly anxiety producing to start, terribly uncomfortable and difficult to get used to at the beginning, and you want to give up immediately. But if you keep at it you get used to it. It soon becomes incredibly satisfying, something you start looking forward to, and turns out to be very good for you in the long run.

@mc Okay so explain to me. Why exactly is winter bathing like this safe/good. Is the idea that the ocean is always warm enough to be safe for your body so it's fine?

@mc The water is never colder than about 3 degrees, so you're not going to turn into an ice cube.

Your body is warm when you jump into the water (and if you're straight out of a sauna, it's really hot), and it takes time for your body to lose temperature to the point where you're in danger.

The entire nation of Finaland is doing this as a national pasttime, and large parts of Sweden as well. It's very nice, assuming you have a hot place to go to afterwards (like a sauna).

Cis people can very easily understand the harm of injecting testosterone into a cis girl against her will, or injecting estradiol into a cis boy against his will Not getting why transgender kids wouldn't want to go through """natural""" puberty is just refusal to believe trans people exist imo

Key cities and regions are labeled, including Babylon, Sumer, Assyria, and Persia. The Tigris and Euphrates rivers are visible, flowing through the region. Notable cities such as Babylon, Sippar, Nippur, Uruk, and Lagash are marked with red dots. The Persian Gulf is shown in blue, and surrounding groups like the Medes, Parthians, and Persians are labeled. The map provides a geographical context for the ancient civilizations in the area.

Huh. Whoda thunk it?

Wonder what the 22-year old slacker will do with this?

(Not actually wondering. He's a brain dead underachiever who has no idea what to do as head of a major governmental office) 🤬

Red Crest Rising

This is a male pileated woodpecker—a photograph I took a few months back. I caught a glimpse of a pair just yesterday; they touched down briefly in a nearby pine before continuing westward. That’s how most forest birds travel: small, cautious hops from tree to tree. I suppose it’s safer that way.
