About that “16 billion passwords” data breach.
The original source of the report, Cybernews, says that since the start of the year, its researchers have “discovered 30 exposed datasets containing from tens of millions to over 3.5 billion records each. In total, the researchers uncovered an unimaginable 16 billion records.”
This isn’t a breach of one company or another’s systems, but compiled records, with some believed to be from “infostealer” malware, as well as previous leaks. As Bleeping Computer points out, what you should be doing hasn’t changed -- using unique passwords with a password manager, enabling two-factor authentication, and adding other forms of security like passkeys and security keys that can replace passwords altogether.
No, the 16 billion credentials leak is not a new data breach

The Dangerous Consequences of Donald Trump’s Strikes in #Iran
Why even a successful attack might do less to curb the Islamic Republic’s #nuclear ambitions than a diplomatic deal would have.
On Saturday, #Trump brought the #UnitedStates into #Israel’s #war against Iran. American planes & submarines struck 3 sites in Iran, including 2 nuclear enrichment facilities—at #Natanz & #Fordow—& a complex near #Isfahan that was believed to contain stores of uranium.
e.g. Removing him from the chessboard of war likely automatically put another predetermined leader in charge. And the minute U.S. made noises about entering the fray, pre-planned movement of nuclear facilities were moved.
