The image is an album cover featuring a person standing in front of a storefront. The person is holding an electric guitar and is dressed in a dark suit with a white shirt and a dark cap. The background shows a window display with various items, including what appears to be vinyl records. The text at the top of the image reads "Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble," and at the bottom, it says "Blues At Sunrise." The overall color scheme is sepia-toned, giving the image a vintage feel. The person is positioned centrally, with the guitar leaning against their leg, and the storefront is visible behind them. The album cover has a textured border, adding to its vintage aesthetic.

“If I have one message to give to the secular American people, it’s that the world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don’t know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly.
The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you. And our governments are very much the same.” ― Marjane Satrapi

I'm not surprised that papers get a citation boost by mentioning #AI.
nature.com/articles/d41586-024…
But this result might not be AI-specific. It might be a special case of a more general phenomenon in which papers get a citation boost by mentioning any hot topic of the day.
If so, this phenomenon would explain and encourage deeper diving into those hot topics, on the merits, i.e. good research. But it would also explain and encourage social pressure to talk about those hot topics, without depth or without regard to the merits, i.e. fad thinking.
