The problem: there is an overhead wire problem in Aachen Hbf
Every Belgium-Germany train has to go through there - there's no way around it
And then - knowledge you ought to not need but do need! - every Frankfurt - Köln - Aachen - Bruxelles ICE turns around in Bruxelles

So as I am heading towards Aachen from the Belgian side, what do I do?
LUCKILY my Brugge-Bruxelles train continues to Liège, and even Welkenraedt and Eupen, near the border

LIÈGE maybe, as perhaps there's a ICE there?
WELKENRAEDT - the ICE doesn't stop there, but that's 17km by bike from Aachen
EUPEN - there's a bus from there to Aachen

There are trains...
... but because it's Eurostar and they'd sooner poke out their own eyes than be helpful to Interrailers, it's at least €109 for Bruxelles-Paris (there are Interrail spots on the late Paris - München TGV though)

ICE 15 - that left Bruxelles at 10:25, a full 4 hours ahead of when my planned ICE 17 would have departed - is *still* stuck in Liège, delay at least 135 mins
Oof, poor people, I thought
Now I am "delay it more! In 40 mins I am in Liege and I might get it and get back on schedule!" 😀
