"Imagine being an employee at a company that has NEVER turned a profit and showing up to work in these shirts."

This caption, shared to 122K followers, is intended to mock the WNBA players wearing “PAY US WHAT YOU OWE US” tees.

Here’s why that logic is not just flawed but deeply rooted in misogyny and ignorance about how business actually works:

Mediocre, unremarkable white tech dudes have made careers off companies that have lost billions before turning a profit, if ever.

Gerry McGovern reshared this.

making profit is neither the goal nor a concern for any of the tech bros I’m familiar with. It’s basically just a shell game, rebranding/“pivoting” and calling an eventual buyout (which only pays the executive class) “success”. Realistically, none of these people have ever succeeded in any of their ventures. They fail up, get rich by accident (the lottery pays out too), then spend the rest of their lives running their mouths.

Imagine being so simply-structured & naïve in the world that you think an employer must only pay its employees if it makes a profit… [shakes head in wonderment that there are such people in the world] 🫨

Unfortunately, I suspect many of them won’t care. In fact, I expect most of them will boast about their actions. 🫤

Most of the KKK have gotten away with it so far. I think it will need a big change in US thinking to make sure these bastards are caught and punished appropriately.
