A 19yo French man who attempted to "bullet climb" Mt. Fuji (climbing overnight w/o resting) had to be rescued. Shizuoka Prefecture requires overnight Fuji climbers to rent huts; the man & his brother booked one, but broke the rules with a 10pm night climb.

The next iPad Pro might add a new camera.

In Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter for Bloomberg, he notes that iOS 26’s public beta is expected next week, and a possible tweak for upcoming M5-powered iPad Pros..

The M4 iPad Pro that launched last year switched the orientation of its front-facing camera for use in landscape mode since many people use it like that or in a laptop-like stand, but the new model could also include a portrait-oriented camera, so video calls look fine no matter which way you’re holding it.

"Trump's conspiratorial base are hugely and reliably animated by stories about impunity for elite sex predators. As well they should be! Elite sex predators get away with all kinds of crimes -- not just Epstein, but the whole universe of powerful men, from Harvey Weinstein to Donald Trump, who systematically abused women for decades and got away with it -- bragged about it, even!

"But despite these very real abusers, the conspiracists in the Trump base are mostly concerned with _imaginary_ abusers -- Qanon's shadowy cabal of adrenochrome-guzzling pedophiles, tirelessly freighting trafficked children from one nonexistent pizza parlor basement to the next, packed inside of very mid Wayfair home furnishings.… "

Many (ahem) years ago today, Mr. Boots & I ran off to Vegas and got married at the Little Church Of The West. Happy Anniversary to us! #ILoveHim ❤️

A friend told me about these a while ago and I have finally tracked them down. Fried egg flavoured potato chips!

They really do taste of fried eggs. Eggstrodinary!

Ok so we don't have flying cars in 2025 but this feels like the future.

Oh, OK. No, you can still be on something stronger than glue and be orange and get a Nobel as I understand it. And Time is way less picky. Anyway, I thought it was the hamster stuff that I wasn't meant to talk about.

That was an innocent mistake. As I explained to the people from the RSPCA, I'd heard sunflower seeds were good for treating haemorrhoids and in my discomfort had somehow forgotten to close Mr snuffles cage.

He was completely unharmed (though he never used the tunnel in his cage again).

I thought Jellyfin didn't bring anything new or improve my media center, but wow... Along with a couple of plugins it has become indispensable. Once again, open source software is making its way into people's daily lives.

I'm also pretty happy with jellyfin.
What are your favourites aspects of jellyfin and fave plugins ?
in reply to frox

@frox I have a very large database and I tend to forget what I have, jewels of cinema and tv. Jellyfin helps to prevent that from happening. Plus their interface makes navigation obvious even to my parents and now they can watch what they want and when they want without my help.

Add to that the fact that I have the Jellyfin clients remotely connected to the same server, and everyone in my family can watch movies and series from wherever we want, whether it's on the TV, on the tablet or on the laptop. Neeeat! :)

We had a great Classic Metal Class earlier today, devoted to doom metal, looking at its origins, some early bands laboring in obscurity, & the development into a recognizable genre by the mid-1980s. Want to get in on future sessions? Here's the class site
