The image is a cartoon depicting a scene with three characters. In the center, a man with blonde hair, dressed in a black suit and tie, is holding a lever on a red box labeled "ACME TARIFFS." The box is connected to several sticks of dynamite with wires. To the left of the man is a character resembling a jackal, and to the right is a bird with a blue body and wings labeled "CHINA." The bird appears to be stepping on a wire connected to the dynamite. The background is plain, focusing attention on the characters and the box. The overall scene suggests a metaphorical representation of a situation involving tariffs and potential consequences.

Completed! My first shirt sewn from a commercial pattern (and tailored to a tighter modern Hawaiian shirt fit vs the extremely large flowing original pattern). The only place I have questions now is if I should be tacking the lower collar section in place... unspecified on the pattern. It's ironed to behave. (Update: consensus on this from the people who know how to sew, is to just iron the collar as needed) #sewing

@_L1vY_ Thanks! It went a lot better than I expected! I'll likely make myself a few more shirts just for the heck of it. Will have to tackle some pants (now knowing the patterns are useful... order of operations is important!)

Apple's bill for Trump's tariffs in the third quarter was a little less than first expected, but Tim Cook has cautioned that it will be considerably more in the next quarter, totaling about $2 billion across just two quarters.

yeah it will be brutal. The reality of say an Richter 8+ in LA area or SF means that IF the hospitals survive and that is a huge IF there will be no help coming. Whoever is on for fire, EMS, police etc will be on for the duration assuming they survived it as well and be saturated with calls.

This will be exacerbated in wealthy communities where nurses, doctors, fire, police EMS and other first responders cannot afford to live in the communities they serve.

In addition Hospitals and the like are predicated on running water, electricity, and a huge just in time supply chain.

Ha, when I lived in the east bay many moons ago they looked at all the hospitals, firestations, and other critical infrastructure on the Hayward fault - it was a LOT.

Pretty much Mission Blvd is the yikes zone

I think the disaster plan for Cache Valley is "you are on your own." They fully expect the two major highways into this Valley to be impassable, the other two lead to Idaho and Wyoming, so good luck there.
in reply to Jim Hubbell

I think that is the plan almost everywhere.

That is why I am prepared beyond belief. Help is not coming is how we planned before and with the current administration it will be worse

in reply to MsMerope

@MsMerope @cvvhrn I was in LA downtown during Northridge, and people couldn't get help from the fire station on the other side of the freeway, because no access.
