#WritersCoffeeClub 8/1. Why are you writing your current work?
Long story.
I wrote MONSTERS as TV show originally, and it got me meetings though (obviously) no one picked it up. (But I did get a gig writing a movie script.)
After I wrote it as a novel and published, I got further interest from a production company I'd worked with before but MONSTERS would have needed too much CGI for a first series (this was back in 2017).
So they asked me to write something else and we decided on a contemporary prequel which wouldn't need so much in the way of effects.
That deal fell apart eventually but there I was with the outlines of another story, and for a NaNoWriMo I threw out 50K of words.
The trouble with these books is they cannot be pantsed because they're just too complicated.
So here I am, doing the proper planning, and making pictures.
