This free app turns your MacBook’s trackpad into a makeshift scale.

Is it a good idea to keep your MacBook in the kitchen while you’re baking? Probably not, but it’s still good to know that developer Kris Shah has created a simple macOS app that can turn your Apple laptop’s trackpad into a makeshift scale, as spotted by Lifehacker.

Track Weight, available for free on GitHub, does require you to keep one finger resting on the trackpad to use it which is a bit inconvenient, but it’s surprisingly accurate

Please don't use #OpenSource to describe #AI models that have been made available for download. What you are getting is gigabytes worth of compiled — very much closed source — data. If you don't get the source training material and everything that went into making the model it is not open. It's just not.

Anything they didn't like used to be called communism.
Still is. They've called Nancy Pelosi a communist. Gavin Newsom. Teachers. Union organizers. LGBTQ activists.

But if they can call us all terrorists too, it makes it much easier to justify terrorizing communities, organizers, jailing them, deporting them and/or killing them, as they're doing today. As they did under COINTELLPRO. During the McCarthy and Palmer Red Scares.

And this isn't really new. They called the Irish miners in Pennsylvania Molly Maguire terrorists back in the 1870s. The first English language use of the word "terrorist" was most likely during the French Revolution, when they called the Jacobins terrorists. In the 1800s, anarchists, communists, labor leaders, those fighting for national sovereignty were all dubbed terrorists.

in reply to MikeDunnAuthor

they had to switch terms because calling everything you don't like "communist" has a certain anti-Semitic dogwhistle flavour to it, and you wouldn't want that while doing extremely anti-Semitic things and abusing the term "anti-Semitic", people might notice what you're doing!

but the barbarians are trying to breach the gates again...
