Hiya, Bluesky Users... 🙋‍♂️

On picking a server.

Seriously, it's no big deal. Lots of good servers, but maybe you just want help choosing. If you don't want to join 'the mothership' Mastodon GmbH mastodon.social and want a strong recommendation right now, you can't go wrong with mstdn.social.

@stux is a great admin from the Netherlands with a proven commitment to standing up for his users. Servers are in the EU. By all reports the users are very pleased.

Mastodon Migration reshared this.

I often wonder whether this communication strategy really reaches Bluesky folk. It’s not like Bluesky users are browsing Mastodon to find information about Mastodon or some Bluesky scandals, that’s not how this works at all. I assume a blog project could be more efficient. The posts don’t even have to be long.

Semi-related, but props to you for specifically recommending a server to others. Generalized servers like Stux's will help new users at least get in the hang of Mastodon's UI itself even when they aren't familiar with the network's communities yet, and they are where people (such as I) got into Fedi in general. Plus, choosing a server has been one of the most unfamiliar things for non-Fedi users, and we should take the initiative to make this process easier. :drgn_thumbsup:

Very topical question.

I am using #strava for now. I works, support my power meter and it has that social aspect to it (I am that guy that gives thumbs up willy-nilly).

I am actively looking for a place to migrate my data (before they fully lock it down)
