Protest thread #65: Bridge Troll Rave!

Since it's now getting dark at 5pm most places, we're lighting up our signs and flags. Since we're got some boomers who remember the disco era, we've also got disco balls! We had a whole resistance party on the bridge again, demanding support for Ukraine and the release of the Epstein files.

We also had literal taco Tuesday, as one nice older man brought a bunch of fantastic homemade burritos as well as Halloween candy.

in reply to Scary Austin VOTED 4 HARRIS!

...middle fingers and ultra fragile men who blew exhaust on us out of their overcompensation trucks, but mostly we got mad honks from people stuck in traffic who loved our signs.

As one of the other women said to me, "The people who flip us off... I just wonder, what exactly do they object to? I remember when everybody agreed on exposing pedophiles and having a democracy." I heartily agreed. It's useful to gauge the public response, but it's not otherwise worth noting the middle fingers.

So now I'm back, it feels like Christmas Eve and we're already getting our first presents from Virginia and New Jersey!

I am going to watch election results and snuggle kitties and celebrate with all of y'all.

We got another bridge troll rave tomorrow.

Congratulations to Lieutenant Governor-elect Hashmi on her historic win! We are *SO* close to adding a Democratic trifecta in Trump’s backyard.

Trying not to watch the #NYC #Mayor #election too closely: the polls close in 15 minutes, and what's done is done.

If NYC voters assumed #Mamdani would win, and didn't turn out enough to override the people the oligarchy had once again poured their billions in to trick into voting against their own interests, then yes, we will have to deal with a #DemocraticParty where #Cuomo has a seat and #corruption is still seen as viable. That is a hard bridge to cross, but it's what we'll have to cross when we come to it: no sense in worrying about it.

It is still shocking to me that so many people are so irresponsible that they would vote for someone like Cuomo, but it is our job to understand what we can do to make them do better in the future: that's why #democracy is so hard, you have to build consensus with people, even if they are making completely irrational decisions in front of you. Sometimes, that can seem impossible.

But we would have to do that either way. NYC is just picking easy or hard mode for us.

Another often overlooked but important election. Loudoun County Public Schools has been ground zero for targeting by the Trump administration over trans students, and chose to protect their students. Pro-trans candidates Chandler and Svenson are winning, and anti-trans Munoz-Melendez is losing.

Whew, I thought for a moment that Credit Karma had finally implemented working 2FA and locked me out of my account. False alarm. I can still skitter in around it.

This Red-eyed Vireo couldn't resist the fruit from a Star Magnolia... even if it was a beakful.
