A staple of family car vacations was stopping at every roadside historical marker.
In some areas they are spaced about every 3km.

Never have I seen a more pointed example of "generative AI is very good at clichΓ©"

Indeed, I can hardly imagine stronger empirical support for the assertion that hit music can be purely trite and derivative.

@inthehands

I had a conversation with the head of my kid's school about AI

I pointed out that _when an AI is good at a task_ that is usually a _condemnation of the task_ ("why show me a 350-word essay when you could just show me the 40-word prompt instead?")

yours is the same insight, but for music

I may be the last person to figure this out, but in case I'm not:

My Mastodon browser tab started making an irregular, infrequent beeping sound a few weeks ago, despite my having turned off notification sounds literally years ago.

Turns out the latest Mastodon version (which added quoting) also added a new category of notification sounds that's ON BY DEFAULT when you're quoted.

There's a switch to disable it in the settings on the notifications tab.

You're welcome.

Can someone assist with #openbsd install real quick? I've download the latest iso, go through the basic install process (no encryption) but when I reboot after it's completed my laptop tried to boot via PXE. When I select the ssd from the boot menu nothing happens. I have disabled Secure Boot in BIOS and made sure UEFI options are on. Tried on a Thinkpad T480s and Thinkpad T14 Gen 3.

What the right-wing offensive against the BBC is really about

By Tim Lezard The BBC is so left-wing that since 2010 its biased reporting has resulted in the election of four successive Conservative governments and, last year, of the most right-wing Labour administration this century. Yet this is not enough for its enemies, of whom there are many, political and commercial. They sense blood and want to destroy the BBC now they think they have it on its knees.
